ONE HUNDRED AND TWELVE DAYS—KIRSTIN GOLLINGS

________

BOOK DESIGN
Photographer Kirstin Gollings captured the surreal experience of the Melbourne CBD during the 112 day lockdown in 2020. With only one hour outside permitted each day, Kirstin still managed to take 27,000 photos as her way of processing the unprecedented event.

The book was designed to represent the unique attributes of the lockdown and Kirstin's response to it—the scale of the emptiness, the quiet, the anxiety, the sheer length of the lockdown, as well as her desire to document without judgement or commentary. The 112 embossed counting sticks on the cover visually represent the Melbourne experience of the lockdown.

Images in the book are curated by aesthetic rather than chronology which helps express Kirstin's rapid point-and-shoot style of documenting the lockdown.
